2014 USASA SBX Race Update #1

The first weekend of SBX Racing is in the books and things went pretty well.  I won two Gold Medals and felt like my riding picked up right where it left off at the end of last season.  Gym training has been solid and I feel physically strong, though there’s still a lot of work to do before Nationals.
Copper Course
I haven’t had a lot of opportunities for on-snow racing prep this season, so I was anxious to get plenty of course-time in on the practice day.  I was also on a brand new board, which I still haven’t broken in or gotten totally comfortable riding yet - and before this weekend had only ridden for 4 runs!  Despite the new board factor, I had consistent Time Trial runs and qualified #1 each day (41.81 sec and 41.78 sec) which meant I got first choice for the starting gate during the Finals.

I didn’t wear my GoPro during the races, but do have some footage of the course and from a warm-up run on our practice day.

Thanks to VAST::vastaction.com for some great time trial and race pictures.  You can see more of them on my Facebook Page.  Thanks also to USASA Rocky Mountain Series for hosting a great weekend of racing and providing a fun, well-built course.

My next event in the Rocky Mountain Series is at the end of the week and then Nationals are the first week of April.
